Music, Sex and Poetry

It was a momentus day on Tuesday as I drove with my sister out to Santa Clarita to mix my favourite song on my new album with Jim Scott. Jim Scott is a true beliver, a rock producer who started out as a geologist...he said he was'ent happy and so he went and drove around alaska for 7 months...came back and over the course of his career which started at the record plant. He has become one of the greatest most respected engineer/producers in the world. HIs year makes everyone else year look like we were all a sleep, hes alrerady produced Wilco, and had a number one, he's been out in New Zealand, producing a charity record for Oxfam, with a huge array of stars from Tom York of Radio Head to Katy Tundstal....now hes mixing Crowded House, which he just produced. Jim Set the bar very high for himself and everyone around him. Jim has been just an inspired and incredibly supportive friend over the years...and So he took a couple of days out too help me rap this record up and just celebrate making Album Two....
So on Tuesday morning I was doing something I've done manytimes over the last 8 years....I was sitting listening, hovering in the doorway of one of jim's recording rooms....as he moved buttons on a great old neve console. It was moving to me as I heard him adjusting my vocal's on this my favourite song on this album...a song called ''Black Roses'' It was moving because jim has seen me through so many twists and turns of the music biz...he was their right at the begining when I was a baby in this industry, guiding, protecting, but most of all inspiring....he is a true Mentor. Its very important for artist to have mentor's and practically impossible to function with out. Jim makes you fall in love with making music all over again...He is such a class act, such a believer such a wonderful music maker....but everything Jim does is with a beautiful sense of passion and grace. I dont think Ive every seen him tired of what he does or cinical...he really believes in the mission of great music and after this amazing career of his...which gets more amazing each year hes still chasing the ultimate musical experience...
I'm very proud of this particular song that he mixed it came from the heart. mid tempo rock feel....but now jim has applied his magic it sounds absolutly fabulous...I hear it and I feel like crying, because I think this is a song I was born to write and sing...and only jim could malke it sound that good .I gave this record everything I had...I hit the bag with the hardest punch I could throw, i know that.....I started on the 5th of January and the last mix was completed yesturday...
And my dear friend Jim was there saying this is just album two...you've got album...three...four and five...you can be more than you dream...Go For It !!! a massive thank you to everyone who has made this a amazing 6 months...its taken a very talented team of people to make it happen, everyone worked incredibly hard...Zoe
