woman on top........a Rock n roll day in the life of Zoe
Well I feel like I'm in Rock n roll boot camp right now......which is just fine by me. I'm focusing with my whole self on what I love to do....Yesturday my day began at 730.....by eight I was in the car clutching a raw vegi juice....by 930 I was sitting in frount of my Rock n Roll life coach.....By 11 o clock I was on a yoga mat for an hour and a half.....my yoga teacher complained about my focus...I admitted I was thinking about the Tudors !!! by 1 oclock my sister who is my acting manager arrived with cassie....."You've been invited to perform in Australia" !!! great I said I'm ready....Legendary recording engineer John X arrived about the same time, what a breath of fresh air......he's about the only person I've meet who likes to crack outragious jokes and do crazy parody's of me......yesturday was all about my dating techniques...... He and I have been trying all different techniques for recording songs......sometimes I go collaborate with Tim Pierce, who I think is just a genius guitarist. The other day legendary drummer Kenny Aronoff and guitarist Yogi and I crammed into my home studio with John X we lay the demo track for a rockin little number about.........a hollywood groupie.......It was awsome to here Kenny and Yogi interpret my new song.... Oh yeh a treat to see Kenny(he played on that legendary recording of Jack and Diane} right now John X and I are stripping it right down....he gets me to simply sing with my guitar and then we build the instruments around the vocal....We worked on a romantic number about.... seduction today~!!!
At 6 john X left and the night shift arrived......at 7oo I started rehersal with Yogi and my sister on back ups......our three voices blend so beautifully for the acoustic set....sitting singing in the canyon as the sun go's down ....ah a very eternal end to a long rock n roll day......Watch this space new music coming and lots of new gigs coming... Blaze Your Own Trail & Live Your Bliss
Have you got the balls to get off the marketplace and into your own imagination? One of my all time favorite quotes is by the philosopher Nieitche. He said "ye who has the will to create, go far from the marketplace where the air is clear and the actors and men of fashion do not lurk. It is only there you'll find your true originality." Well, I'm paraphrasing, but you get my point. More and more, I love blazing my own trail. For me, the road less traveled is far more inspiring than a tried and teested path. Of course, some days I do end up getting caught in the thistles, falling off my horse, and ending up with my face down in the mud. But, there are other days where I experience unimaginable beauty. Ah, it's that good! Sunsets that are so extraordinary, human kindness which is profound. I just feel so blessed to be alive to witness all this magic. So I want to encourage anyone with the words of Joseph Campbell: "Follow your bliss!" If there's something you know in your heart to be your true destiny, do it! If there is some inner calling you have, blaze it! Joseph Campbell also said: "hero, on this journey, nothing is for sure. The only thing you know for sure is that you will be changed by the journey." When I first heard these words, I was 20-something, up on the mountains of Spain, trying to figure out what I wanted to do, whether I wanted to continue acting, to write a film script, and then it came to me: what I really wanted to do was rock and roll! So as one does, I danced under the moon and asked for direction, and the moon said "California! Go to California!" Hey, you may laugh, but the primal forces of nature are what you need to connect with to have the raw energy to live your dreams. I never imagined it would be this good blazing a trail out in the wild west. I remember when I first arrived in America, me and my sister, who had just read Jack Keroac's On the Road, sitting in Central Park with a Dictaphone. We considered ourselves like spiritual journalists at the time. I proudly said into the Dictaphone: "we are here in the United States of America to put it to the test. Does the free spirit still exist in modern America today?" I can honestly say yeah! The free spirit is alive and well in America. We headed out West, as we were convinced in our young minds that the next spiritual revolution, just like in the 1960's was gonna come up from the west coast of America, and if there was a happening, we wanted to be part of it! Of course I now realize that the gigantic shift in consciousness which is happening right now, attuning the earth to more peace love and bliss is actually happening all over the world. Joseph Campbell believed the more people living their bliss, the more lit up the planet would be. He believed when one person is inspired to live their bliss, they inspire other people to also live their bliss, and this, he felt, and I honestly feel, is the soul purpose of each human being during their life on this earth. What do I love to do? I love to perform! I love to rock out! I love to sing! I love to write songs and connect with people. What do YOU love to do? It's all a very individual thing. It's not to do with grades at college and what your parents said you should be when you grow up. It's to do with that magical vibration where you feel so alive you could just take on the world. Joseph Campbell said you can always read a person when they're talking about their bliss. A little light springs up behind their eyes like a smile. We are all different, and that's the point. There's no judgment. Just get inspired and blaze your own trail. It all comes down to what makes you happy in the end. It's taken me a long time to really tune in to my bliss. As Neitzche said, the marketplace will scream within you long after you have departed it. Sometimes I'll find myself in this pure space of possibilities. Maybe I'm sitting out in the desert under these huge American skies, contemplating the billions of grains of sand. Maybe I'm sitting on stage with a warm spotlight on me, knowing I'm about to give the best I have. Maybe it's hearing the first words of a new song, an inspired song, a song you know in your soul people will love. Whatever it is you love, tune in. You are a precious beacon of light when you do what you love.
Thanks To Everyone in Vancouver!
Just to say, it was absolutely divine to be in Vancouver to perform! Thoroughly enjoyed performing up there in that magical city! Thanks to everyone! Special thanks to Pam Southwell for inviting us, and to everybody who organized New Music West. I especially enjoyed the acoustic performance on Saturday night at the Libra Room. It was really intimate, and the audience was so responsive. It was a great atmosphere, and I really enjoyed playing all my new songs to a live audience. It was just so much fun meeting so many different people involved in the music industry, bands, managers, songwriters, in such a great and supportive atmosphere! I loved all the other female talent playing on the Violet Femmes stage, and I'm looking forward to doing that again. Thanks to my band for getting up there and rocking out. It's been a while since I've rocked with a full band, so that was great fun! Thanks to my team. It was a great experience, and thanks to Zeus Records for getting us up there! I love performing and traveling. It's really my passion! Keep an eye on this space for more performances coming!

Adam, from Rock Star Management, "Thanks for the tour of the city.. I walked around Stanley Park in the rain yesterday morning and sat under some awesome huge native indian totem poles and reflected on what an incredible journey I have been on across the world to be sitting here... Looking at the totem poles, you can't help reflecting on what or how harmoniusly they are in tune with nature and thier surroundings. A big black raven, flew over my shoulder, for those of you who know, the raven symbolizes "magic". And I will give you my best to give you a "magical" show tonight... Canadians Planning 'First Massively Multi-User Online Music Festival'
With so many excellent music festivals coming up this summer, it would take more money and time than most of us have to attend them all -- not to mention growing your carbon footprint a few dozen sizes. To attend the New Music West festival in Vancouver from May 14 to 18, you won't even have to leave your computer. Virtual-Vancouver has partnered with the festival to recreate the whole thing in real time inside its three-dimensional virtual world. In order to attend, you'll need to download the software client (Windows-only), but the festival is free to attend.
"Nothing like this has ever been done online before," said Brian Shuster, CEO of Virtual-Vancouver and its parent company Utherverse. "In addition to the forty thousand plus fans that will be attending the festival in real-time, Virtual-Vancouver has the capacity to accommodate millions more [online]. This is a huge step for virtual worlds, as well as for the music business, which has increasingly been employing online outlets as a means to gain exposure."

All Roads Lead to Vancouver
Well, I've been having this little Vancouver theme going for a while, and so it figures that guess where I'm going?? Ya...hey, Vancouver! Really looking forward to rocking out with ya!! Hey everybody, if you're not there, get your asses up to Vancouver because it's the New Music West Festival starting on Friday May 16th and going all weekend long! Another reason you should get on a plane, ride a camel or take a bus up to Vancouver is because I'm going to be there playing out! Ya, I'm gonna be playing the New Music West stage on Saturday, May 17th with a full band. Actually, it's a great lineup. I'm taking half of Chris Cornell's band up there. I've also got a very special acoustic show with the Violet Femmes on Thursday, May 17th! This is a special time, and a great moment for me because this will be the first time I've ever stepped foot on Canadian soil, and I'm looking forward to meeting some great Vancouver folks! The Acoustic set should be really beautifully intimate, and I'm going to do a bit of a story-teller thing and give some insights about the songs as I sing them. I'll be singing some of my brand new songs off my upcoming album for the first time live! I will be joined on the acoustic stage by indie artist and guitarist, Yogi, and my super cool sister Victoria, who made this journey across the world with me to live my dreams. Ya, we're both wild roses in the wild west. It's been a while since I've rocked with a full rock band, so vancouver you'll get to see me as I truly am: a real rock n' roll woman blazing my own trail all the way to the heart of you! Please come and join me! We'll have some fun!!!
