Picking up the Pace...
A box just arrived at my house full of the single, "Hard Habit", which has just been sent to radio this week!
I'm rehearsing my band, got lots of gigs coming up - including the Whisky A Go Go, one of my favorite stages to play here in L.A.! The place the Doors were famous for playing!
Before that I am playing in Tennessee at the IndieGrrl Festival, August 19th!
My publicist just sent out a press release announcing the release of the first single!
I just did a screen test, which was fun. A really nice lady named Fabienne picked me up when I had a flat tire, and it turned out she was a casting director! So me and my guitar just hiked over to Hollywood Blvd. to read for the part of a rocker.
Next week I'll be shooting the video for "Hard Habit" with director Chris Marrs, who's witty videos have been shooting to the top of the MTV music video charts. His Black Keys video went right to number 1, and he's written me an extremely witty script all about being addicted to bad boy: the number 1 drug of choice for most women in America! We will be casting the bad boy on Monday morning.
Keep your fingers crossed for me that "Hard Habit" wizzes up those charts! I think the song's got legs!
Kisses, wherever you are in this great big beautiful world of ours. Keep it real, and remember: Life's a gift!

This Week's Update!
I gave myself three days off for the 4th of July. I'm not sure if I feel more or less tired after the weekend, but I'm going to get it together today and imagine, create and succeed!
We're basically just tying up all the loose ends and pulling together all the final details of the record before the release. Today we made a final decision on which single will go to radio first. Stay tuned to see which one it is! I'll give you a hint: it's sure to be a hit!
The very last song of the album will mixed with Jim Scott this week, and I'm also going to do my first interview later this week. I'm very excited about both of those things!!!
I played a GREAT show last week at The Mint for my friend Gilli Moon's CD release party, it was my first show with a full band. Everyone sounded great and we had a fantastic crowd! Thanks so much to everyone who's on my team right now - let's get out and ROCK!
Why is Los Angeles the Most Difficult Place to Date in the World?
Los Angeles: Everyone is looking, but no one is finding each other!
All my girl friends from ages 22 to 60 are saying the same: "L.A. is the toughest place to date!"
Actually, even the guys are saying it! So why is this?
Are we living in the center of a fantasy world that's way too far from reality to want ive, I meto pick up somebody's smelly socks in the morning? Or deal with them having a bad day?
Of course, this city is filled with models/actors/whathaveyous, that are much more interested in being taken care of than being men.
In this city everyone is constantly looking for the best of the best! As most people seem like they're in the process of scaling the ladder of success, when it comes to dating they seem to think "why stop now?"
There seems to be very little energy available to be invested in romance, and even less to be invested in devotion. In a fast moving city like L.A, devotion to one's individual identity seems so much higher on those people's agendas than merging with a soul mate.
Then there's the whole Hollywood factor: with shitloads of beautiful people coming to Los Angeles every day, people find that they have so many options, why settle for one!
A perfect example of this: I happened to run into an old actor (who shall remain nameless) the other day. I asked him about his marriage, and he said something along the lines of "Oh, I've got a record deal and I'm dating a Victoria's Secret model". It's actually grotesque! So many are searching for the most attractive option rather than an actual soul connection. Well guess what? We all grow old, and relationships are fundamentally based on soul connections! So how are you supposed to build that type of connection if you dump someone just because they got a few wrinkles or had a bad hair day?!
I have some really fabulous, beautiful girlfriends here in L.A. and we are thinking of starting an import-export business. My youngest friend has just met someone from Australia - she is shipping someone in from Australia, and at only 23 she is already saying that dating here in L.A. is rough. I actually miss the old style, kind of dating etiquette of Europe. Talking to a very beautiful 40-something last week at the Urth Cafe, she said "I literally get off the plane in Europe and I'm swarmed! I'm not even really sure what is going on!" Perhaps when it comes to finding love, Angelinos simply need to rent a few foreign romance films and turn to the Europeans to see how it's done.
What's life without love? Wherever you are on the ladder of success - top, bottom, or middle - I encourage you all to squeeze some love into your weekly agenda.

Getting Hot For Summer
California is getting hotter! I guess we're heading into the Summer.
I'm getting hot for my next video shoot - I'm training a lot! The next video I'm shooting is for my song "Eight Lovers and a One Night Stand", which is to be the first single off my new album. Been playing out quite a bit, acoustic right now, with guitarists Yogi and Ben Peeler. I'm warming up to go touring in the fall. I just got home from warming up with my vocal coach, Eric Vetro, who's got to have one of the most star studded teaching careers in the world. We're working my voice up over the next week to go back in the studio with the Wizards of Oz. I just wrote two pretty sexy, uptempo songs with them. Zeus Records is joining forces with CEG, Fred Croshal's team to get my record out. I'm really excited about the release team!
Life is real busy! I also wrote a couple of TV shows in January, when I was bored of songwriting, which I am just pitching now. I will host them!
In my down time I've been doing a lot of meditation, yoga and boogie boarding on the Malibu beaches! On the esoteric side I'm still fascinated by shamanism and Native American spirituality, so I go off to the Mojave Desert every couple of months to connect and hang out at my favorite hideaway, Two Bunch Palms. LOVE the healers out there!
I'm still single - gonna hold out for my soul mate! Although muses always help the writing process - the more interesting, the better! A lot of my new record, which will be coming out shortly, is about relationships. Let's face it - the whole of life is about relationships, either on the horizontal plane with other human beings or the vertical plane with your higher power.
Hope to visit Europe this summer. I miss the UK and my family at times, and my adopted country, Italy! Happy to see more and more European faces on my Facebook!

Sex Addiction
There's a lot of stuff in the news right now about sex addiction, because of the scandal involving Tiger Woods; as well as Sandra Bullock and Jesse James.
Of course, the entertainment industry is really promiscuous. I think sex is often offered to rock stars and actors like rum used to be given to officers in the navy while they were on long voyages, turning some of them into alcoholics. Any kind of addiction is just about a high, to avoid feeling what's really going on in life. It short circuits the possibility of deeper connections, like love and devotion. I've known people in the industry who go through one sex partner after another; in fact, sometimes even a few in one week. It kind of ruins their lives and hurts everyone around them. They end up looking pretty jaded and pretty silly.
In the 1960's there was the "Free Love" movement, in which it perfectly acceptable to sleep with numerous partners. Followers of the free love movement not only accepted but encouraged promiscuity. This was okay, before this was before AIDS came into the world. I hate to say it, but the sad truth is the "Free Love" movement is over and now we all need to be a lot more careful and take better care of ourselves.
I think we need to heal our society's relationship with sexuality. Sex can be such a beautiful and sacred thing between two people, and we need to stop treating it like it's fast food.
Almost Ready for Lift Off!
It's a beautiful Spring day out West! This morning I trained with my ass kicking trainer. I'm looking good, feeling really excited about the future and the present. This week I'm going to be playing at the hot, new, bohemian hang, The Stronghold; over on the west side, in Venice. I'm playing with guitarist, Yogi. Last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of video shoots and photo shoots. We just edited up all the footage documenting some of the process, which will go out as webisodes. Lift off for the new album is June, so everything I'm doing right now is a lead up to that. Just focusing on being as creative and optimistic as possible. I'm living my bliss, and knowing that life is a gift. I'm loving all the different creative people I'm getting to collaborate with. I loved working with photographer Jim Wright on the Black Roses video - hoping to shoot another video with him shortly. Keep an eye out for the webisodes - you will get to see Jim Wright and I working together. I'm going in the studio next week to write an additional single with pop rock producers, the Wizards of Oz. I'm doing some filming on Wednesday for a webisode which talks about my journey to where I am now.
Well, I hope you're all having fun out there! Keep it healthy, happy and take care of each other as best you can! Remember - LOVE IS ALL AROUND!
